Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (IMH29859)
Caitlin Cooks
Caitlin is a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern who earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University and her bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Central Florida. She enjoys supporting adolescents, adults, and families as they navigate life transitions, relationship challenges, and emotions that they may not yet have the words to describe.
Through her experience within a residential setting working with adolescents and families affected by mental health and substance use challenges, Caitlin has developed an appreciation for the numerous ways people can adapt, heal, and grow through complex experiences. She brings this perspective towards helping clients with self-understanding, strengthening relationships, and facing change with greater confidence.
Caitlin takes on a person-centered, collaborative approach, adapting therapy to each client’s individual needs, strengths and goals. She incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoeducation, and skills for distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and coping. She prioritizes creating an inclusive, supportive space where clients feel heard and comfortable being themselves.
Outside of counseling, Caitlin is a self-proclaimed foodie who enjoys finding new restaurants and/or coffee shops, watching documentaries, and taking her dog, Espresso, on walking adventures. As someone with a limb difference, she also values disability advocacy and representation.
