Laura Barnaby

Laura earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. She has experience across private practice, in-patient, and community mental health settings, working with adults and families.

Laura has a passion for diversity, travel, and cultures, having spent several years living in South Africa working for NGOs that support youth and young adult development. These experiences have deepened her cultural sensitivity, curiosity, and commitment to empowering individuals from all walks of life. She also has extensive experience working with LGBTQ individuals, bringing a nuanced understanding of their mental health needs. Laura has worked with clients navigating life transitions, identity development, relationship conflicts, trauma, anxiety, and depression.

Laura draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, parts work, trauma informed care and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to create a calming, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to share their story. She believes that a genuine therapeutic relationship is the most effective counseling tool, and her approach is multicultural, empathetic, and grounded in evidence-based practice.

In her free time, Laura loves to travel, play video games, explore new restaurants around Orlando, and practice mindfulness through jigsaw puzzles.
