Ashley Carson

Ashley is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and former school administrator who was born and raised in Winter Park. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wake Forest University, NC, she moved to New York City for several years and then backpacked solo through Europe for six months. Ashley landed back in her home town after her travels and received her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College.

In counseling, Ashley focuses on the transformative power of emotional connection and how current struggles are rooted in early childhood relational experiences. Through fostering an environment of openness and trust, Ashley helps clients access and manage their feelings, as well as gain insight into how these relate to both past and present issues. Once clients feel heard and understood, they are more open to honoring and uncovering their strengths, changing coping skills that do not work for them anymore, replacing maladaptive thoughts and behaviors, and developing more personally authentic ways of relating to the world.

Ashley has experience in community mental health, schools, colleges, medical facilities, and with in-home hospice care. She has worked with a wide range of age groups, from preteens to older adults, with issues relating to self-esteem, peer pressure, depression, anxiety, life transitions, identity, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, death and dying, and trauma. She believes that there is a mental health crisis today, especially plaguing our youth and young adults, and hopes to provide a safe place for healing for those in need.

Outside of the office, Ashley enjoys running, attending comedy shows with her husband, cheering on her middle school son at speedcubing competitions, and admiring her high school daughter’s artistic and creative approach to life.
