Relationships that heal

Getting started

Nice to meet you.

So you’ve found us, now what? Well, to begin, we’re glad you’re here. Navigating healthcare can be stressful, but our goal is to make this as easy as possible. New clients often find us through a variety of means. Sometimes, it’s a referral from another clinician or insurance company, otherwise we may have been recommended to you by a friend or search engine. No matter how you’ve heard about us, we hope you’ll reach out. Calling us at our main office number (407) 865-0495, using the Contact page here on our website, or emailing us directly at contact@simmonscounseling.org all work equally well for getting the conversation started.

Once you’ve initiated contact with us, we can try to help answer any questions or concerns you may have. Our Client Liason is completely dedicated to facilitating new clients’ entry into our practice. They are your advocate and guide from the start and their mission is to help get you scheduled with a therapist as efficiently as possible. Whether you’re connecting with us via phone, text, email, or website, you will be reaching the same staff member, so the conversation should feel seamless.

After addressing any preliminary questions you may have, our Client Liason will likely ask you for your email address and request that you complete some intake paperwork for new clients. You will be sent an invitation to our secure portal via email so that you can fill out our forms from the convenience of your computer or smartphone. This intake paperwork usually takes 5-10 minutes and includes an informed consent document, so that we can be certain you know your rights as a patient, a questionnaire to help us get to know you a little bit better, and lastly we will ask to keep a record of a form of payment on file to secure your first appointment. Your card will not be charged until after your first appointment.

If you’re planning on using insurance to help with the cost of counseling, we may also ask for a copy of your insurance card. Though insurance companies can sometimes be unpredictable, we do our best to discern the cost of sessions based on the particulars of your coverage. This enables you to make an informed choice about your healthcare to help eliminate any surprises.

Once we see that all of your paperwork is completed, our Client Liason will reconnect with you to schedule you for your first appointment. In the meantime, if you have any questions about your upcoming appointment, please feel free to reach out. For a walk through of your first appointment, check out our article, “What to expect.”
